How does Self Storage work?
Shenton Storage provides you with your own individual storage space. No one else can access it without you giving them your unique customer access PIN code and unit key. You keep your own key and come and go as often as you please – easy. In the background, Shenton Storage takes care of everything else, CCTV, security, accounts, cleaning – everything!
How do I know how much space I need?
Shenton Storage has over 6 different sizes and configurations of storage spaces. Our experienced and friendly staff will work with you to ensure that you will have the most suitable and economical space to suit your needs.
You are welcome to visit our facility to reassure yourself of the size required at any time during office hours. When are we open?
Do I have to sign a fixed term contract?
No! The minimum billing period at Shenton Storage is one calendar month, however, you are free to stay for whatever period of time suits you best.
How safe is your Storage Facility?
We have state of the art security measures in place to ensure the safety of your personal property. Our facility is under 24 hour closed circuit TV surveillance which monitors and records any activity. You use your own security PIN code to access our well-lit security-fenced facility. You unlock your individually alarmed unit with your own key. Our staff are experienced and professional, offering confidentiality and password-protected privacy to our customers.
Can I store Nanna’s piano or antiques?
Of course! Our staff can help you with the best way to pack and store those things too.
When can I access my unit?
You have access from 6am to 7pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You don’t need to book an access time and you don’t need to pay any access fees.
Shenton Storage office hours are Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm and Saturdays 9am – 1pm.
Does the office manager have a key to my storage unit?
No, the Manager does not hold a key to your unit.
How much notice do I need to give when moving out?
Fourteen (14) Days notice is required prior to vacating your unit.
Is there anything I cannot store?
Items that cannot be stored include live animals and plants; food items; flammable, explosive, perishable, toxic or environmentally hazardous materials, illegal, stolen or dangerous items; Further to this, items requiring environmentally controlled conditions should not be stored.
Do I have to sign an agreement when I move in?
Yes, when you move into Shenton Storage, you will sign our Storage Agreement. The Storage Agreement licenses you to occupy the space. The Storage Agreement outlines the terms and conditions under which you are granted the license. Our friendly staff will walk you through this simple process.
What benefits are included in my storage cost?
Our Management and staff are sticklers for detail! Our security systems and management processes are designed to keep your personal property safe and secure at all times. We have individually alarmed units and 24/7 closed circuit TV surveillance for extra security, insulated roof and exterior walls for cooler units, well maintained facilities for cleanliness and safety. We have a very personal approach to storage so we’ll help assess your space needs and then walk you through the entire process.
Is there a standard with which your Storage Facility complies?
Yes, our facility owners have been members of the Self Storage Association of Australasia (SSAA) since 2006. We use the industry standard storage agreements which ensure you (the Storer) and the business receives the best legal protection. This contract outlines the responsibilities of both parties when using self storage. The Association also has a code of ethics that all members must abide by.
What payment methods do you offer?
What suits you best? EFTPOS, Visa or MasterCard / Monthly Automatic Authorized Credit Card Deduction / Telephone credit card payments accepted, Internet Banking via direct debit, (you may wish to set this up automatically to transfer from your account to ours by the due date), cheque and good old cash. Our staff will ask you what suits you best and help set that up for you.
What if I do not pay?
We always work with storers who are having trouble making payments, however, if you default on your storage payments after 7 days we will over-lock your unit and deny you access until you are up to date on your payments. If you continue to not make payment, we can, under the storage agreement, reserve the right to sell your property to recover the monies owing.
